As team member Shauna Charles put it, "God's presence is here! His life, His love, He Himself is here- walking among these people.... I've been here for over
two weeks and... during that time God has spoken and given us ideas of how to present Himself in clear and exciting new ways."Another exciting event for the YWAMers was their visit to a school for the
deaf and mentally retarded in Nasik. Their presentation was initially cancelled by the principal of the school who feared retaliation from Hindu radicals who had already caused some problems for Christians in the area.
Eventually, the principal decided to go ahead with the program and got more than he bargained for. The team members presented the Gospel and the futility of idol worship through several dramas with boldness and a
strong sense of conviction that amazed even themselves. The Lord repeatedly impressed on their hearts that this was what He wanted them to do. They obeyed and the response was very positive. At first many people in
attendance watched the drama with a sour expression. Later they had a change of heart that was evident on their faces.
The YWAM team's success at Nasik was repeated at a camp in Bombay. This camp was primarily young
men with their families. The team also felt led to perform their dramas which renounced idol worship and were received very well.
Team members also enjoyed their time with the girls and each member of
the team got their own "family" of five girls. The team members had daily family devotions with the girls spending time getting to know each one of them.
Team member Miriam Lizardi, who was on last year's team, was
amazed at the spiritual growth in the girls' lives in one years' time. "The girls are coming out of the isolation that deafness and other traumas have caused them. The love of the workers and the Word of God
is piercing the darkness in their lives and bringing forth restoration."
When it was time to leave, the YWAM team was surrounded by the girls who did not want to see them go. Many of the team members were
profoundly moved too. They cried and lamented the fact that they had to leave. The team will be sorely missed, but praise God for the wonderful time of ministry that they had with our girls
