MFD Girls continued...

Thoughts from Lillian- For me it was a great joy to be back for a few months. Though coping with physical set-backs like severe arthritis, asthma and head problems affecting my balance, I am so thrilled to see how God has changed the rocky hill-side site into a place of beauty.

The road leads up past stone walls through a mass of lovely trees, beautiful flower beds, and past a miniature zoo with rabbits and a tortoise. Then it leads past the extended administration buildings, the two story staff building that accommodated the YWAM team and Lisa Parys, our administrative assistant from the California office who spent a month with us. Just below the staff home among the teak wood trees is the Barbecue and Meditation Circle, where staff can visit or enjoy fellowship and quiet meditation with the Lord.

Even with my physical limitations and lack of signing experience, these few months of sharing in the ministry of these precious deaf has been exhilarating. Taking the evening prayers with the girls in the tailoring class will be an unforgettable memory of God's love and wonder-working power. The girls' joy as they sang songs with strains of high and low notes I have never heard before and their meaningful signs thrilled me. Their response to the Bible teaching as they tried to look up and follow the scripture verses was so encouraging and oh, their spontaneous prayers were such a blessing!

They were all so loving too. When I got up from my chair, they come running to help. Whenever I went outside, they raced to take my arms and help me walk up and down the road to the office, climb stairs or take me wherever I needed to go. They were my loving, living crutches! I sure will miss them while I am in Canada in the months to come.

In Bombay- At a retreat for our Deaf Fellowship shortly before the YWAM team arrived, the church was filled to capacity with deaf young people and deaf couples. The program included a message by me, interpreted by Sunny Divekarour (staff leader of our Bombay Fellowship) and dinner that followed. It was an inspiring time and the response was extremely positive.
